However, 60% of social media practitioners cite "measuring ROI" as one of the top 3  challenging aspects of their social media campaigns, states Morrison Foerster.

2016 SEO strategies will focus a lot on mobile optimization, local SEO, content and social media. You can listen to advocacies of different marketers and SEO experts. But for the realest and out-there kind of insights – take a cue from the pioneers of digital marketing – Rand Fishkin, Neil Patel, and Brian Clark.

I have been following them and their work for years. And today – as we head towards the new year (2016) – I’ll share 2016 best SEO strategies (courtesy their resources and data analysis)

    2016 SEO marketing strategies

    Mobile Optimization

A recent study by eMarketer found that time spent on browsing online via mobile devices – in a span of 3 years – has increased by 500%! Google is also pushing the indexing method that will focus on app-only content.

The system allows users to click on search result listing into apps via their mobile devices. Mobile optimization will be one of the most important SEO marketing strategies in 2016.

    Local SEO

Local search engine optimization will see a bright light in 2016. Geolocation has changed the game in SEO. Whether you have a local business or not, local SEO equates to awesome customer experience.

50% customers use mobile devices to search for local information, especially stores and establishments that are within their easy reach. So, start optimizing Google Maps, Search listings and Google+, with proper descriptions and content relevant to your service/product/business.

The recent Google Pigeon update focuses on content relevancy and originality. Apart from Google, social media sites, like Twitter is also putting a strong base on aggregated content. The new Twitter feature – Moments – brings all types of content via live events (texts, videos, images, graphics, etc.) and stream them in a single channel for unique user experience.

Adam Audette – Senior Vice President of SEO at Merkle – talks about the use of content marketing strategies in yielding SEO efforts, on how they will make brands more visible through organic search.

Loren Baker – VP & Co-Founder of Foundation Digital – points out the importance of sharing relevant content to target audience.

Content – social content, video content, images and more will dominate the SEO bandwagon of 2016. Keep SEO strategies inclined with content strategies!

    Social Media

Finally, there is no ignoring this century’s biggest phenomenon – Social Media. Social media indexing is bound to take a complete charge of SEO marketing in 2016. Google is collaborating with Twitter and Facebook in prioritizing social posts as indexable content.
