Marketing Career Recommended Sources

Posted by Anonymous on 100 Points
If you could name 5 sources (books, speakers, websites, schools of thought, etc) that laid the foundation for your marketing career and/or that you refer to on a continual basis, what would they be?

I'm not exactly a "budding marketer" in all respects. I do have a BS in Marketing Management from Brigham Young University (BYU). I also was recently asked to direct all marketing efforts for my employer's flagship product, shifting from being the creative director of the same. That said, I still have so much more to learn -- especially when compared to the years of experience most of you have.

So beyond MarketingProfs and its related sources, where do I turn to next? (Offline and online sources appreciated.)

Here''s my list. They have proven to be the most useful resources for my marketing success/strategies.

    1. The Wall Street Journal

    2. The Busines and Market section of your local newspaper.

    3. Inc. Magazine

    4. www.WDFM.com ( Larry Chase''s newsleter website).

    5. Popoular Science (or any other field related magazine with new info on your demographic)

    6. My gut.

Most people overlook the these tools, spending hundreds of dollars on books, courses, etc. You will find current, REAL TIME marketing information and ideas in the papers, up to date informative articles and products in the mags, a plethora of articles similar to this site from Larry Chases'' network newsletter (free), and my most trustworthy resource...my gut! It never fails me!

    I hope that helps!
