I am a student and am doing my graduate work assisting the Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, in partnership with Pac Rim. Our 24TH annual conference is in April 2008 and includes over ten topical areas, interactive workshops, a film festival, exciting speakers and a writing workshop.
We just launched a new strand "Assistive Technology" working to help those with disabilities learn about and obtain new technology that can make their lives easier.
We have so many people with disabilities interested in attending the conference, but due to the costs involved in traveling to Hawaii, most cannot afford to attend. We want to establish a scholarship fund to help get these people to our conference, and I was wondering how we go about approaching companies for donations, and who we should target? Most assistive technology companies I have come across only feature one or two products and thus are not interested.
Any ideas?
