What is hypo-thesis testing?

Do you mean "hypothesis" instead of "hypo-thesis"? A hypothesis is a proposed explanation on why something is happening. Testing that hypothesis means you are trying to prove that your hypothesis is true.

Hello Poori That's quite a lot in a simple question. Hypothesis testing are various statistical approaches to verify whether your alternate hypothesis is true or not. The alt-hypothesis is usually the research proposition. Scientific procedure requires us to state the research proposition in a null hypothesis form, which you hope to reject, after the test of significance (degree of confidence the researcher has set like .05, .01 etc) of a statistic is successful. There are parametric and non parametric tests. Hope these thoughts help!
