Creative Sales Followup Idea

Posted by tennis0720 on 250 Points
Hi - I am new to sales and want to come up with some creative sales followup ideas. For example, I could send a potential client a bag of popcorn with a note saying: "Just popping in to remind you that I can.... " (and then mention one of the benefits of using my company's services). Another idea is to send an email with a picture of me with a hoop saying that I am willing to jump hoops for the potential client. Does anyone have any other creative ideas? Do you think that these creative ideas will be beneficial?
Thank you for your help!

What is it you sell? To whom? What's the lifetime value of a customer? What makes you special/different? Are these follow-up messages for different stages of your marketing/sales effort?

    Hi -
thank you for your quick response. I am selling event planning services. The service level and creativity provided by my team separates us from other companies. I want to use these as 1) followups for qualified leads that come in 2) to keep in touch with past clients that we have worked with 3) to send to those who i would like to develop a business relationship with. Thank you again!

If you've already had the opportunity to meet/speak with a potential client, a short hand written card (without a business card enclosed) thanking them for their time is always appropriate.

In today's digital age, the personal touch gets overlooked. I think this gesture can set you apart from many of your competitors.

Once you make a personal connection, they are more likely to pay attention to other information you may send.

Good luck with your new venture!

Thank you for your response. If you know of any creative ways to give the personal touch that would be greatly appreciated!

First question...are you selling yourself or are you selling your product...event planning services. Keep this in mind.

Second...There is creative and there is cheesy. Don't be cheesy in your follow-up because then your company would be thought of as cheesy event planning company.

Creative could be creating a series of postcards each with a picture of an event or some aspect of the event that your company recently did on one side and a personal message on the other that notes what your company did to make the event special, fantiastic, or unique for your client. The personal touch is important and is also creative in its own right.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your post Theresa. I definitely have to choose a fine balance between creative and cheesy.

The pop corn and the hoop idea? Don't do either of them.

Instead, send a simple letter or card on which you give a ballsy, larger than life guarantee: 100 percent satisfaction or the client gets double their money back. Something of huge, huge tangible value. Then stick to it—honor it, live up to it. Exceed expectations.

This might be a bit cheesy but what the heck-

Time represents so many things these days so -

Send them a nice watch with just a small card attached.

the card should have you company name on it and on the back-

It's Time (this is for qualified leads)
Good Times. (this is for past clients)
Right Time ( this is for relationship building)

A personal sales call within 2 days after receiving watch is critical.

There I said it. Costly an Cheesy? You be the judge

If you contact me, I will send to you, a couple of concepts that worked extremely well, for me. I don't want to pass it around to "the masses"....it will become trite.

This really depends on who your potential client is. If they are professionals, I think a thank you note would do. If you want to send them a token, you can probably send something they can use like a flash drive, planner and the like. If you potential clients are parents or teenagers, find out what they like and send it to them with a note. :)

    Hello,

If you are working for a professional classy event company, keep it classy.
Opt for a handwritten card or note on nice stationary.

Remember why your client was engaging your business; was it for a wedding, corporate event, family gathering, etc? You can get very nice scrapbook type 3-D embellishments and perhaps place this on the corner of the card or stationary. Remember less is more. Don't be gaudy!

    Good luck.

Keeping customers or prospects informed of recent, successful events that you have done may trigger a new idea in their mind.
