What Type Of Research Is Done In The Area Of New Product Launch Strategy?

I would like to know a few references where people have done research in the area of new product launch strategies. I am doing my research in this area.

    and don't forget that if your product is truly revolutionary, it may not be worth researching at all. Your prospective customers might not understand the product concept.

    Sony didn't market research the Walkman.
