Feedback About Click-through Rates

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
I'm about to advertise my web site on FaceParty who claim their average click through rate is 9% which seems remarkably high. Can anyone offer any feedback on that? Apparently a recent campaign giving away a £10 gift voucher achieved 27% clickthrough. FaceParty is the second biggest community web site in the UK with over 300 million page impressions and 4.2 million unique visitors every month.

In addition, I'd appreciate any feedback on the site itself. The preview link is:

May aim is to be as simple as possible. Here's the book, download it, read it, and then decide what you want to pay for it.

All feedback greatly appreciated,

Callum.

    LOL

Personally i think the site looks good, i like the voice thingy cool.

I think that the other members are objecting to the name of the ebook.

It might also be the fact the there are a lot of ebooks out there like this.

Your pages dont look right in firefox (20% of the market) see images:

    Home page

    Testimonials page

And when i went to d/l the ebook (i dont need it, just testing your site, Hay dont look at me like that) :P

A 9% Click though does seem high, but then again if targeted correctly it is easy to get a 65% click though.

Hi chmac. Your post looks like spam because you're not really focusing on a marketing question. It looks like you want to publicize a link to your ebook. Also, this is a professional community. Some of our members find your ebook's subject matter offensive (I've received a few complaints). Plus your content isn't what we want the search engines to associate with us, so I'm deleting the link.

Please feel free to refocus the discussion on click-through rates, if you like. Otherwise, we'll close this question. Thanks!

I am using firefox 1.0.4 (as my name suggests) on a windows machine.I also have version 1.1 beta but it is to unstable at the moment so i am not using it.

It may be the Scripting Plug in i have installed on my machine, it blocks 99% of java-script pop ups and javascripts i have to allow the scripts to run. I also have a lot of plug ins that edit the css to get rid of the ads when i do a google search, and other useful features like previews of links before i click on them.

Also i would like to explain why we have taken the stance with your question that we have. Unfortunately we have a very GOOD search engine ranking (and it comes back to bite as in the A**), when we receive a question on lets say a tag line for a new houses broker, we WILL get about 3 or 4 more questions the next few days.

With the example i gave before, we have had about 100 questions asking for tag lines and we we just got sick of it.

We don't want the forum to be flooded with question about how to promote "getting laid" as this could get a lot of more sinister content like marketing porn sites etc.
    So please dont be offended.

Also most of the members are (older) Americans sooooo they are a bit sensitive about things like this :P.
Also about your question on the mac, you might try asking a question of the firefox forums. There is a section on problems with coding for the Mac i think. The links should be already in your bookmarks by default.

Feel free to contact me offline ( just click my name), will i am only a student and dont have any experience with a actual campaign but i will try my best to help you.
