Help Me Improve My Website...

This is the first website I have designed and built. I could not afford a professional website designer so I got some books and did it myself. I am not looking to build the best site ever...but compared to my competition, how does it look?

Please tell me how to improve the site. I would also like hints on getting good placement on search engines. I have submitted to all the major search engines but have not been indexed, so you can't find my site with keywords yet.
