Help! I Need A Strategy For Reaching My Target Market!

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My online website is a nationwide beauty salon and hair stylist directory, along with hair styles, hair care products, and other info and features related to the hair. This site is for the consumer. The intended revenue for this site is to come from beauty salons and hair stylists that pay to have all of their info listed in the directory. The traffic for the site is increasing daily, but I have not found a way to reach the beauty salon/hair stylist. The consumer is searching for hair style and beauty salon info, but beauty salons seem to be oblivious to this. Most beauty salons do not have websites. (Actually, this is one of the reasons for starting the site-so they don't have to get a website). However, the main reason that they don't have websites is because they don't have the time/money to do it, or they do not feel that they need a website (i.e. they rely on word-of-mouth advertising). I have even participated in a beauty trade show with a booth, offering free trials etc. I have done some cold-calling, but salon owners are always busy and don't have time to talk on the phone. Recently, I started with a FREE standard listing that includes just the name/address and hair services and prices. How do I reach this market, or should I develop another revenue stream? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I have a project that was pretty similar to yours. Though, I haven't done it due to lack of financing. What seems to happen is that you didn't define exactly study your target market very well. Keep in mind that stylist are very introduced in their business and in contact with people constantly. Therefore, I would reccomend you to get a list of the best stylist and visit them. In other words, prepare a good brochure emphazising the high traffic, and the benefits they will get from announcing from your site. You could even give them a trial period for one month. Some tips when talking with the stylists is to make them realize that nowadays Internet is getting very important, and it's a great idea for them to get known. You could even create your website with addition features, such as, telling a friend link, etc.
Other thing you could do is to talk with their distributors, and arrange certain type of promotion that if they subscribe to your website, they could win some hair products for their salons.
    I hope this is helpful.
