A Valid Denial

Posted by Anonymous on 2000 Points
I don’t believe the Sun will rise tomorrow, because there’s a giant asteroid going to demolish the Earth an hour from now.
If that were true, it would be substantiating disbelief (a valid denial). An element involved would be involved in the denial of the otherwise given reality.

There are many things that will not work to establish Unity. It is those things that are given as reasons for not believing BLitTeR will work, even though they are in no way a part of the simple plan.

No one has ever said anything like, “I don’t believe common knowledge would be an element of Unity”.
I can’t imagine anybody would ever think a symbol has no power.
Once, a person tried to claim ‘no Feeling’. It was an easy bust.
If the three elements are combined there will be a point of common understanding established.

I could say that I don’t believe a common point of understanding would qualify as a beginning point for ‘The Unity’ the church is talking about, if I believed the church knew the way to establish Unity and was just keeping it a secret.
I don’t believe that. And because the three elements of known power would add up to something that sounds so much like Unity, I cannot deny the possibility. Damned honesty!
God knows I’d like to be free of BLitTeR and have a Life again.

Please, can you help me with a ‘valid denial’ for the possibility of establishing a beginning point for Unity?

peace & Love

In all honesty, tinker, your "question" makes no sense to me whatsoever. I can't figure out what it means or what you're asking. And I certainly can't figure out what it has to do with marketing -- the main focus of this forum and of the MarketingProfs website.

It takes me back to a Philosophy of Religion course I took in college, except that I could parse out the meaning of the questions there. This one goes beyond me.

Maybe we could help you if you would spend more time framing the question and making clear your premise and its relevance to marketing. I think we are all willing to help, but we have low tolerance and patience for what we perceive to be mumbo-jumbo.

Have you tried a forum on academic philosophy -- something like philosophyprofs.com?

Sorry, "are" should have been "our"

    We are creatures of belief.

But what we believe is not necessarily remotely true.

We must validate feelings and beliefs against reality. Often our most deeply held beliefs are inaccurate and reality surprises us. We should study reality more, and God less.

We anthropomorphize our value to the universe. It gives us comfort. The universe is very very very big.

The only known purpose of life is that 99% of living things are here to become food for something else.

There is no guarantee that we are the end purpose. We may just be food for something else from somewhere else.

    Ideas can be food.

Tomorrow might not happen, but experience says it's worth thinking about, since today followed yesterday.

Conflict is not related to knowledge, but to resources. Sometimes two people cannot have the same thing. Even most knowledgeable best of friends.

Sin is a broken rule within your own group. We judge our morality differently when we interact with people outside our group. Morality evolves as society learns and grows.

Conflict is reduced by trade and communication and so mutual dependence, not knowledge.

There is evidence for all these statements separate from my beliefs, but they still might not be true.

The subject "Valid Denial" and 2000 points really got me interested, but I have no idea what Tinker is talking about.

"You can back up or argue anything with a different point of view. To understand a point of view is a challenge."

All people have points of view and beliefs. How do you tell which ones are valid? How do you know which you should take notice of? Believing something doesn't make it true. A marketeers know, there are a psychological tricks to make things seem more real than they are.

Please take a moment to read the "important guidelines" about our forum (you'll find it to your upper right).

As you will see, this form is not supposed to be about a monologue, and this form is not supposed to be about talking about the same topics over and over.

This is not a form about philosophy or religion or the like.

    Please, moderators, step in here.

Please, Tinker, read and respect the guidelines for this form.

I am sure there are many forums to discuss philosophy and religion and how to get the whole world in harmony. Why don't you go try one of them?
