Email Blasts "select" What Is Sme

Posted by KathyAd on 50 Points
Hello. I am looking to do an email list rental. The vendor went through the various costs with me, and one of the costs was for Selects. Ex. we can apply Selects such as a certain job function, certain geography, etc. Each Select is $15/M (or $15 per thousand names). Does anyone know what SME is? I believe it's an acronym having to do with Selects?

I doubt that it's "Search Marketing Executive," although that would be neat.

I'm thinking perhaps "Small to Medium (sized) Enterprise."

    Plausible?

I'm with Paul (Inbox). My guess would be Small/Medium Enterprise.

If you want to be sure, ask the list broker.

    Dear KathyAd,

Jodi is correct: SME stands for Small/Medium Enterprise.

    I hope this helps.

I deal with a lot of list data sources and I have not yet seen SME used for this, it could mean anything. I would ask your data provider to confirm.

You may also want to double check on the select charges and compare around. There are some data providers that do not charge for email selects, unless you are doing overlay email appends to a mailing list.

You might want to contact this guy that I use for a comparison quote.

SME is "Small or Medium Enterprise," which, btw is typically larger opportunity than a small or medium business, especially when it comes to selling IT products or services

Another suggestion, make sure you do as much testing as possible before you fire off your full email list blast. You may be surprised at what you learn and it will help you get the maximum return from investment.

    best of luck, JohnnyB
