Question

Topic: Social Media

Posted by sewatseams custom tailor on 250 Points
I'm a small business owner. I specialize in custom designed clothing & alterations. I have a Facebook business page and am on LinkedIn, for the past six months. I do have a large following on both. Whether it generates new customer's remains to be seen. I use it for the purposes intended to promote, engage and to network.

My question is, Is it necessary to have a presence on Twitter and Pinterest as well and why? I find both of the platforms to be quite boring , but what do I know, it must be effective for some businesses and whomever wants to be on them.

Please help me fiqure out what's most effective for my kind of business. I'm hoping you do not suggest I test them out to see what works for my business.

I need your help and suggestions once again.

Best regards,

Patricia

I think it will be useful for you to be on twitter and pinterest, too. There is a large community there.
Especially for your business, I think pinterest could bring you good business. As for twitter - you can do it at least for customers who want to keep in track with you and prefer twitter over facebook.

It all depends on your (potential) clientele. Do THEY use Twitter & Pinterest? Do THEY use LinkedIn/FB? If so, then use these tools. If not, save your energy. If you're not sure, ask them!

Who are you serving? Which niches of business are your largest clients and what scope is there to expand? Twitter may not suit your needs. But Pinterest (for the visuals alone) may be a good platform on which to show your wares.

Likes on Facebook are nice to have but until those Likes and shares convert into clients, they're pretty useless. If many of your clients are on LinkedIn, this may be your best bet to then drive traffic to your Pinterest page and thence to your website (if this is where you take most of your orders).

What is the goal? How will you know if you're there? What is the most important metric?

Who are you trying to reach? What message do you want them to take away? What do you want them to do?

Until those questions are answered, it's impossible to tell if the additional forays into social media are worth the time/effort or not.

Pinterest sounds like a good idea for your business strategy because you could show before and after images of what you have changed. Social media links help boost your page ranking so should always be part of your strategy.

    Hi Everyone,

I agree with all. I'm new to social media . I'm seeing what platforms are most effective right now. Pinterest seems be a good fit I'm not so sure about Twitter. I try the three platfroms out first and see what happens.
As always your suggestions and knowledge is invaluable.

    Thank you,

    Patricia
