Advertising To A Particular Group Of People

Posted by ankush.aggarwl on 250 Points
I am planning to advertise my product to the people in the working class who use cab services to help them commute daily. My product is an app and I have found data that says that people mainly download utility apps such as mine when they are using wifi and not their networks data plan. Is there any way that I can reach out to this group of people (while they are on wifi) and make them download the app. Or is it possible to make them remember to download it once they get on wifi?

If you're a WiFi hub, you might be able to place an advertisement when people connect the first time through your hub. Otherwise, perhaps a location-based advertisement. But probably better still, place an advertisement in or on cabs.

Just something to keep in mind. Many people have wifi at home so you wouldn't necessarily have to solely target them on the move.

Just some ideas would be to use social media in general. I can't offer a specific media platform but you could see what your target audience uses the most and test your results with out breaking the bank.

Also draft up how your app helps people and send it to some app review sites. I heard about "hipmonk" watching the news one morning and immediately downloaded it. If you can show how much easier it makes life for us- send it out to the masses who review them and it will help sell itself while you establish some funds for a larger campaign.

You are not likely to MAKE anyone download the software (or do anything else for that matter). The best you can hope for is to offer a benefit that will be sufficiently appealing that they will WANT to do so.

So what is that benefit? How will they be better off if they download our app? What burning problem does this solve for your target audience? Who is this target audience? Where?

Attempting to MAKE anyone do anything is a fruitless endeavor: I could spend the rest of my life making people refrain from posting questions asking for catchy tag lines or names on this forum. It would be a waste of time. Echoing Michael's comments above, what's the benefit to app users in using your app?
