Important Benefits For Target Audience.

I am a marketing manager with a background in print and web graphic design. My goal is to convince hiring managers or leaders in a creative capacity that I am the best candidate for a leadership role with their company. I am developing a value proposition for that purpose. My question is this. What would be some important benefits for the people who would be deciding who to hire?

What tangible benefits have you amassed as a marketing manager? Have you been able to reduce customer acquisition costs? Increase client base? Institute new initiatives with little budget? Won awards? Focus on what you've done for your employers that's likely to matter for future employers.

The answer to your question is heavily dependent on the specific company you are considering. "Hiring managers or leaders in a creative capacity" covers a lot of ground. Even if you narrow the field to, say, advertising agencies, there could be significant differences based on size, location, current client list, growth strategy, goals, and a number of other factors.

You need to determine the needs of each company and present the benefit that will be most compelling for THAT company. For example, one company may be looking for someone who can reduce staff and still deliver the goods, while another company may be trying to increase staff and train newbies. Very different needs; different benefits apply.

You probably want to assess and prioritize your own strengths and skills and find the company whose most important need fits perfectly with your [demonstrated] profile.

First, seek to persuade rather than to convince. When you convince someone you're ordinarily doing so against their will. When you persuade, you help the person you're speaking with connect all the dots and arrive at their own conclusion. The difference is minor but the outcomes are not.

Next, take into serious consideration all the advice offered above from Jay and Michael: you've got solid direction here from two of the best in the business.

I agree with the above comments. And referrals can be a great way to begin conversations with potential employers.
