What is your course of study concerning this internship?

Start by interviewing the people who are regulars. What do they LOVE about the bar? What do they tell their friends about it? Where can you find more people like these regulars?

If you are a complete beginner, what's your background and what's your affiliation with the venue?

What marketing is the club currently doing?

    Who is doing it?

    How effective is it?

What is the club owner's expectation of your internship?

What have you been tasked with doing, in what time frame, with what budget, and with what lasting effect?

Is your club unique to the area? If so run with that... celebrate it. If not, if it is one of many that like said above find out why the current clients love this place. Celebrate get people talking (make sure positive not negative) I am currently doing an internship on transportation in my very rural community, it is a learning curve to put yourself out there. I have found don't be afraid of an idea. Ask lots of other professional people in the field and community what they think. Have fun and good luck. Hope this becomes the best jazz club in your area!!

perform a Google search for: SWOT analysis, read about it and do one for the club. It does not have to be fancy, the research and thinking are the important parts.

Of course there is much more to good marketing than the SWOT but if you do that one thing it will get you thinking about what you are working with, what to emphasize and what to address.
