Suggested Recruiting Sites For New Career Opportunities?

Posted by benmilano3161 on 250 Points
My former company could not obtain capital funding and the owner brought in his son to head the Marketing dept. Can anyone suggest a few good marketing recruiters in the NYC area? I'm seeking a Director/VP level position.

Thank you.

Marketing recruiters? Don't they work for hiring companies? Why would they want to talk with a job candidate?

My strong suggestion is to follow the approach I describe in "The Potato Chip Difference: How To Apply Leading Edge Marketing Strategies To Landing The Job You Want." (Available through Amazon.com or at https://bit.ly/9Zq3jh )

The gist is that you need to identify the company whose most pressing need is what you do uniquely well. Spend your time NOT by sending out dozens of resumes, but by researching possible target companies to find the right place for you. That way you won't have to be doing this again every few years.

Once you have zeroed in on your ideal employer, mount a "marketing" campaign to demonstrate the value you can bring them.

A pitch to sell. yet another career advice book is not what I need

I'm really sorry you see my post as a "pitch to sell." I am trying to hold up a mirror for you so you can see that your approach of contacting recruiters is likely to be a real waste of your time and energy.

I've done a lot of research on the job search process -- with dozens of folks who have gone through the same thing you are experiencing, with recruiters, and with senior executives who are on the other side of the desk (hiring). The findings are quite clear, yet most job seekers behave in a way that really isn't in their own best interests.

Other than a new job, what is it you need if not career guidance? Fish or learning to fish?

I am already doing the research angle. The question was a pretty simple please one. I'm looking for Headhunters who may have in roads with certain firms. Just another weapon in my arsenal.
