Celebs As Social Media Influencers

Posted by freerbr on 125 Points
Is there a range someone can give me to understand the market value of a B rated celebrity fee to promote a product on there Instagram, Facebook, and tweeter account?

if the celebs have about 1.2 million followers?
if the celebs have 750k followers?
if the celebs have 500K followers?

It would be great if i can get a ball park number or all three social networks with all three types of celebs followers.

thank you for your time.

It depends on lots of variables.

    Ravivo:

If only marketing were that simple! There are myriad factors to consider when evaluating the market value of any celebrity -- in any medium.

    In general:
What is the connection and value of the celebrity to the brand?
Is there a meaningful link or connection to the product they'd be endorsing?
Is the celebrity believable? Relevant? Over-used?
What is their Q-Score / perception amongst your target audience?

    In addition, within social media:
What are their social media influence scores? i.e., klout: https://klout.com/corp/score
What is their follower reach within your target?
How many brands are they already endorsing?
How many posts do they do? What is the content/value of those posts?
How much engagement do they have with their followers? (Followers can be 'bought', or not involved, in which case the raw, absolute 'reach' number is relatively meaningless)
What risks are inherent in using the celebrity? (For example, if they do something stupid or illegal?)
    ...etc., etc.

Until you answer these (& more) questions, there is no right answer...

Lots to consider when looking at a situation like this. If you assume an engaged user base and the possibility of your tweet going viral celebs who have 1/2 million users could generate 10 million plus views as a result of a single tweet. Which would be worth far more than I am sure you are looking to spend. The inverse is as well true. You b rated celeb could tweet something that does not connect with their audience and then you may be looking at 500-1000 click throughs.

Your best angle in a situation like this is not to pay per impression but to pay per click through. This ensures that you and the advertiser are on the same page in terms of desired outcomes. While generating traffic may be useful all that ultimately counts is conversions.

But what you really need to do is identify the pain point associated with the purchase and focus on creaating a tweet that really hits it and connects with their base. This will likely mean pushing the b-level celebs comfort zone a little. However, if the celebrity is able to connect personally with the product or services cause your are talking major possibilities.

I'm pretty sure there are no fixed rates, or even published ranges, for this sort of thing. Figure out what it would be worth to you, then approach the celebrity with an inquiry or offer. If they're interested you can negotiate terms.

You can go to Q-Scores to get popularity rankings of various celebrities, if that will help.
