Is there evidence that one can model email marketing techniques from one industry to another?
Do the same subject heading hooks work?
Does the copywriting in the body text reflect traditional print copywriting techniiques to illict high repsonse ?

    In general, the more specific and targeted your email marketing campaign is to your subscriber group, the more successful it will be in terms of open rates and calls to action.

    Therefore, using the same email marketing techniques from one industry to another will not be as successful as making them industry specific.

    For the same reason using the same subject heading will not work (at least not very well) unless the two campaign and targeted subscribers groups are identical.

    In addition, successful copywriting in online body text does not typically reflect traditional print copywriting practices

    While the psychological hot buttons and decision drivers may be similar, the techniques of persuasion online are different.

    It is better to not "copy" traditional copywriting.

    To better understand the differences I recommend reading Robert Bly's The Copywriter's Handbook and The Online Copywriter's Handbook.

    If you are familar with traditional, pick up a copy of the latter, if not, pick up a copy of both to see what I (and Bly) am talking about.
