What Is Google's Strategy? Will It Kill Networks.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I read with interest about G Mail by Google.
What is their strategy?
Will it impact the Networking websites like Linked In, Skype, ecademy?

Or it is another Hotmail like IPO and sell it after 3 years for a profit?

It is just another email....with a hidden agenda.

Whay do you think they would just give away 1 GB of space?

It's for their own research and a new vehicle of ad placements.

The networks will still be here.

    Thank for bringing this up!

    Hi Jay:

My take on it is that Google sees Microsoft and Yahoo quickly approaching in their rearview mirror, and while Google owns the search space, Microsoft and Yahoo have some distinct competitive advantages that they are deploying in the new upcoming search engine war.

Their strategies are to tap the treasure chest of information that lies in Yahoo's case, in their portal, and in Microsoft's case, into tapping into the software used by hundreds of millions of people. Microsoft wants search to involve everything on the computers and databases of all their customers around the world.

There is a tremendous amount of information in email and because both Yahoo and Microsoft already have their own free email services, they are already years ahead of Google on this.

I'm surprised they didn't do this much earlier.
