The Biggest Missed Opportunities in Site Search [Infographic]

Are you using site search for your marketing programs?

According to a recent survey by SLI Systems, "six out of 10 retailers do not use site search to enhance marketing programs."

The reasons for missed opportunities are limited resources (according to 50% of survey respondents), lack of knowledge regarding how to use search data effectively (30%), and an existing site search solution that doesn't allow integration with marketing programs (10%).

The biggest missed opportunities are highlighted in the following infographic, which uses research from the company's recent 2014 Global E-Commerce Search Survey.

    I am not sure what Site Search is. Can someone explain it? And yes, I have googled it, but so far I'm just not grasping it. Can someone dumb it down for me?

    Hi, Alex.

    Site search lets folks search your site and lets you track how people use that internal search engine. (An example is the Google Site Search button on the very top to the left on this webpage.)

    Some articles you may find helpful are... (An oldie but goodie with a helpful definition of site search)

    Site search output reports (in Google Analytics) are also a great way to identify if users are having difficulty finding content on your site. Additionally, it can help feed content ideas by letting you know if you are currently missing any relevant topics/offerings that SHOULD be somewhere on your site- just by periodically monitoring the query terms!
