These animals are quite expensive, average price for breeding stock will run from $15K to $75K or more per animal. So my typical buyer is the 30-60 year old, professional, educated, possibly retired, wants the "country lifestyle", etc.
The alpaca is one of the oldest domesticated animals, 5000 plus years. There are only 50,000 of them in the US, and importation is closed. They are gentle, graceful, easy to handle and keep. These animals were cherished and kept by Mayan indian royalty. Hence our name, Legacy Alpacas.
Most of our marketing is done thru the website, print, telephone or at shows. Alot of times I don't ever meet my clients until the sale is complete and the animal is delivered. Having said that, and with the cost of the animals, its vital that the client connect/trust us.
The image we want project is experienced & knowledgeable, honest, will go out of our way to help and support our clients, tasteful but not stuffy, maybe humorous. We concentrate on the animal's conformation, the fineness of their fiber and disposition.
I am at a complete loss on this, so I hope you all can help me. If you would like to see the website and logo,
www.legacyalpacas.com (I know my website needs help too) ;-O
Thanks,
Michelle
