Can Anyone Help Me Name A Pet Breeding Business?
Posted By: sfoley* on 9/20/2006 7:16 PM (CST) 125 Points
Ok, so here's my dilemma. I'm an art director trying oh so hard to come up with a catchy, cute name for a dog breeding business. (Ok i'm doing art direction/web design for my mom's business) But she needs your help!

What she breeds is small dogs (i.e. yorkies, yorki-poos, poodles, chi-poos) and some kittens (i.e. himalayan). But mostly its either poodles or some sort of poodle mix.

If anyone out there can help me I would greatly appreciate it!

Not sure if her pets qualify as "Tea Cup" size but if not
Tea Cozy Pets, Tea Culture ..., Tea Garden ....
should also get the concept across in a lady like manner.

Hope this helps gets things rolling.

Should be lots of visuals you could use here too, better than poker playing ruffians!!

Hello, art director! Creatologist here. I've only had big dogs before, but now I have a maltipoo, so I know all about little anklebiters. As far as your mom's business name, here are a few:
Little Darlings
Fluffballs
Puffballs
Furballs
Dogma (ok, that should be your mom's title on her business card)

I like Furballs for a name, myself.

Hope there's something here you like....I'll take your first-born as payment....(kidding).

Pete

Here are some ideas:

Proper Poodles
The Standard Poodle
Unstandard Poodles
Possesive Poodles
Performing Poodles
Paris Poodles
[Your Mom's City Name Here] Poodles
Prolific Poodles

Poodles & Poos
Proper Poodles & Poos
Paris Poos
[Your Mom's City Name Here] Poos

I'd be curious to know why your mom likes these breeds. Perhaps her answer would generate more ideas for me. If you don't like anything you get, let me know her response, and I'll give it another go.

You're a good son!!!!

Papered Paws

Peti-poo (pedigree and poodle, since folks love to combine the poodle)

Lap Dogs

Miniature Breeds

Registered Toys

Agile Creatures

Designer Dogs (if she specializes in hybrids)

I would like to reinforce...

Poodle Poo would be a great name, and they are ultra popular right now...

I provided some above and thought of a few more:

Oodles of Poodles
Park Avenue Poodles
Gramarcy Park Poodles

Again, I'd love to know the location of your mom. Maybe the city or state would prompt more ideas.

I would use a descriptive tagline on the website next to the name - something like

Breeders of Poodles and Other Poos

My mom's business is located in Ferrum, Virginia which is outside of the Star City (Roanoke). These are great names and i'm sure she's going to have a tough time deciding. You guys are great!

How about the following:

Star City Poodles

It conveys the high-glam of these little dogs, which are very popular now, even if you haven't heard of the Star City area. And if you have heard of Star City, you know where the dogs are from - where you'll need to drive to get your pooch.

A logo designer would have a number of ideas to work from - from the name alone.

i've gone bananas over your mom's naming project. I thought of another one last night, which I just remember. I don't know if you're of Irish descent or have an affinity for things Irish, but here's another:

O'Poodles Dog Breeding

This might be more suited to pet grooming than pet breeding, but how about

Reigning Cats and Dogs

It opens up your market a little, unless your mom prefers to keep it narrow.

I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone and they're suggestions. You guys had lots of names my mom loved. Unfortunately they were all taken domains for her website. We really like pampered paws but it was already taken so we decided on Sweetheart Paws. The website should be up in a couple of weeks if you guys want to take a look!

Thanks again to everyone.
