Publishing Guru's: Will An Intelligent Idea Fly?

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
I want to organize an Intelligent Marketing Consortium. My hope is to organize a membership of thought leaders in different communications areas who share my mission of supporting intelligent advertising, media and editorial -- all of which must remain separate but equal, in supporting one another. My lofty goal is to raise the level of dialogue and good taste. My business proposition: intelligent marketing communication appeals to discretionary spenders who will buy and be loyal to products/services that are meaningful to them. A real value proposition.
I'm thinking of limiting membership to CEO's and consultants.

It seems that an online publication would be the first line out for this. I'm not sure whether to make it a general business or industry-specific. Perhaps it's a consumer magazine -- for A Society Opposed to Stupidity.

I realize such a venture entails huge commitment and risk (6 out of 10 pubs fail, I hear). Any intelligence :-) would be most appreciated.

Can you define what you mean by "intelligent advertising, media and editorial" and "good taste"? These are very subjective terms.

    Hi, Susan --

Apparently we're all confused about your question. Maybe we're not intelligent enough. ;]

When you say "membership," are you talking about the contributors to the publication? Or do you mean the readers/subscribers?

I'll look for your comments and watch others' responses here. Not sure if I can be of much help without a publishing background, though.
