Website Development Evaluation

Posted by michael on 250 Points
This is a bit out of my expertise...so any help/comments would be appreciated.

A customer of ours is looking to enhance their website to capture potential leads.

This seems like something that'd be simple to do, but everyone they talk to is quoting in the $1000 range. Basically talking about a site that collects name/address etc. Really simple stuff. Maybe 10 areas of information.

It's difficult for me because we rely zero on a website (and we don't lack work) but depend on other means for our customers.

For $1000 I could set up a special 800# to take the information and load it directly into their system. Their customers are basically local so cost would be minimal.

Again, ANY thoughts are appreciated.

Just have a form made that collects the information and emails it to the client. That should be able to be done for rock bottom prices.

A better question is why do they want to collect this information? If it isn't even worth $1,000 why do it.

    Harry,
Definitely worth the money to collect the info. The question is, is $1000 to much for a website that simply collected information.

I guess I was really looking for more specifics, but you probably need more specifics.

Take a look at this section from a travel agency in the chicago area. I'm looking at something as basic as this.

    www.cltravelagency.com/contact.cfm

Does something like this really cost $1000?

Think I'll just close this for now/ I've kinda gotten the impression that I was right. Too expensive.
