Problems With Html

Posted by Anonymous on 5 Points
I send out weekly HTML updates on what is going on in our company. It is a nicely designed and easy to read email, but I have a problem.

While some people can't read HTML, I have taken care of that by including a text version. However, my problem, I guess, is more of a technical one. There are some of my readers who can read html, only get my email as a series of attachments. I am not a technical person and have looked at the code, but to no avail. I have even compared it to others and don't see what the problem is.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks!

One problem could be in their email program settings. They have to set their incoming server to accept HTML messages. this is usually found under "tools", then "option" in most programs.

Another issue, which is the most likely culprit, is firewalls.

I had the same problem and had to adjust the security level of my email firewall in order to view messages of this sort.

I'd bet you therein lies your answer...

Good Luck and email me..LOL..if you have any problems!

As a matter of fact..go ahead and send me one of your emails so I can see if it does it in my program: jett_enterprises@cox.net

    yes, all of the above

Your email is not the only one that's arriving as a series of attachments.
The chances of any recipient changing their settings to view your e mail are zero.

    It's the recipient's choice - or their IT department's.

So the solution is to give them an 'E mail not displaying properly? Click here to view as a webpage' link. Put it in the html - and in the text as 'click here to view as a webpage'

Thanks to all who sent in comments and also to those who have emailed me personally. This really is a tricky problem as I have worked with the IT deparments at the two companies that I am having problems with and none of us can find out what the problem is.

In terms of outsourcing my list, I can't really do that. With the new privacy lawas in Canada, there are all sorts of issues and liabilities to doing this. I would rather not risk it, despite the fact that there are good companies out there.

Again, thanks to all who offered ideas and suggestions. If we do figure out the problem, I will let others know.

    Thanks again!
