Ideas On Good Campaigns To Generate Corporate Hospitality Revenue For A Tourist Attraction?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have received a referral to a prospective client whose business is a city centre based tourist attraction.

They have a fantastic facility that takes you back through crime and punishment over the last 300 years and have authentic courtrooms, old underground jails and a gallows as part of the visitor experience. Currently, they offer to hire out the facilities to companies to hold meetings, seminars and conferences there, along with a range of hospitality events like murder mystery evenings and ghost tours. They also offer a wide and varied menu, a good wine list and can cater for afternoon or evening events. They tend to price the facilities from a standard rate card and have delegate and room rates available.

Although I have some B2B experience, it is not in the corporate hospitality arena and they've asked me to pitch some ideas to them on suggested sales and marketing campaigns to increase their revenue from business customers for these types of events.

Aside from this, I don't know enough about what they've tried in the past in terms of what's been successful and what hasn't, but am asking you so as to be able to potentially provide some initial ideas if and when the need arises.

Does anyone have any examples of suggested campaigns that you've seen used successfully elsewhere to attract corporate hospitality, or what the best approach might be to get businesses to choose a slightly different and unique location for this activity, rather than at a hotel or any other of the usual places? Also, I'm interested to know what are likely to be the more successful channels to use to crack this market for them and generate some really good revenue.

All help welcome!

Thank you.

Sounds great! It would be nice to know where it is...

    Conference Organisers:-
Anyway - how about linking up with one of the business conference organisers. i.e. as suggested above - if you focus on individual companies as your target - each may only use the venue one or two times per year. (As with Dave's event planner) a conference organiser will run many events in the year and each event will bring many businesses in to experience what your client has to offer. (For example, the IIR)

    Associations and societies:-
A number of industries have professional societies and trade shows. I'm sure this would particularly appeal to those involved in Law enforcement, Security etc. But it also sounds great for most others too.

Anyway - I hope that helps

    Best regards

First of all, if getting names is not a problem, I would suggest contacting a list of companies with the following.

    Regarding approach and intimacy:

    1. I would reccomend hosting a semi-casual Open-House with food, open bar, etc.

    2. Have BRIEF vocal presentation, with historical data , artwork, benefits of utilization etc in a "classy" display on easels throughout the facility.

    3. Have brochures arranged on a table with a person there to answer questions.

    4. As far as approach: Mail invitations much like the ones you would use to announce a wedding...very nice stationary, ink, print, personalized, and perhaps a little picture card of the some of the most intriguing displays. Request an RSVP so you can plan your catering.

By sending the "wedding" style personalized invitations, you will exude class. The semi-casual attire will make people feel comfortable to "come as they are" ( Given your target demographic, I doubt you risk anyone showing up in flip-flops and cut-offs)!

Give a short welcoming speech and a summary of the current capablilites and future plans, inform everyone where the information is located and that there will be staff available throughout the event to answer questions. Perhaps the staff can all wear same or similar attire or name badges for identification.

Then, just let everyone mingle, eat and check it out!

As far as channels to crack...off the top of my head:

History Foundations, Museums, Libraries, Websites related to crime and punishment, the "Goth" genre (they love that kind of stuff), Local schools and Universities for guided tours and field trips etc.

I hope this is along the lines of what you are looking for.

    Good Luck!
