Brand Perception Research

I have a feeling my company has a negative brand perception in the local market due to several issues including false information by the media. I wanted to do some research as to have a clear understanding of our positioning in the market, and once we understand where we stand, we would like to roll out a campaign to change our image and show how great of a company we really are.

How can i go about getting the research done? Any recommended companies? Method, etc...any tips are greatly appreciated.

    I would recommend Monalco Marketing. The principal is a behavioral scientist and has significant experience with brand identity and brand perception assessments, and related methodologies.

    What is your feeling based on? Check all your social media sources. Set up a Google alert for your company name. It is amazing how much stuff is out there that can be tracked for free. You may be able to collect all the info you need and hear straight from consumers what their concerns are.

    You can also set up a free or low cost blind survey online. Use a third, unrelated party to set up the invitations, and invite those decision makers whose opinions are relevant. A good place to do this is on Facebook. you can really target your audience there. Ask questions in ways that make it hard to identify your business, specifically ask questions that include 5 - 7 different companies, including your own.

    If you have the budget, I'd go with a full service market research company and have them conduct a brand perception study to determine local perceptions. Any full service market research company worth their weight will know how to conduct a study of this nature. You could get a few bids by checking out companies at https://www.bluebook.org/ - a directory of MR firms.

    If you have determined that there is a negative perception, I'd go with PR (for offline perceptions) and an online reputation management company (most SEO companies do this) to help you out with online negative press that is showing up high in search engines.
