New Personalized Gifts Store- Critique Required

Posted by integraldischarge on 250 Points
Hello everyone!
Recently I opened my first online store (based in Australia) which I created from scratch. Would love to hear some constructive criticism and feedback.

www.fetchagift.com

1. What needs reviewing:
Website first impression, idea, usability, graphic design, logo, brand name, SEO, any other issues which might intervene with business.

My main concerns:
SEO- is it optimized properly?
Brand name- at first it seemed smart since "Fetch" contains "etch" in it although now it seems that the name is not really brand-able cause it sounds quite general.
First impression- so far I got quite high (57%) bounce rate from ads. Is there something about website what drives customers away or are my ads not targeted properly?
General look- do products look attractive? All photos were taken and edited by me so its hard for me to actually be critical about it and need an outsider to review it.

Also it is important to note that I didn't make a sale yet (been live for about 1.5 weeks).

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Paul

How much traffic have you received? Who are these people? How did they find your site?
I randomly clicked to the "Personalized and Engraved bracelet". There's a typo ("has your hearth with this.."). The photo is crisp, but it's missing a model wearing/loving the jewelry. It's not obvious your in Australia - so pricing/shipping will be different to different parts of the world.

    Hi Jay,
Thank you for your response. So far I had about ~200 unique visitors from the google ads. I use quite specific ads with "phrase match". I did notice that decent amount of people who bounce did search keyword "personalized gifts" or similar.
As far as the shipping price goes I use fixed rate shipping ($9.99) regardless of the location. I thought it is quite clear with the badge above the category options.
Thank you for pointing the typo. Will fix it.

    Regards,
    Paul

Just a quick reaction to the site: Overall probably OK. No controlling problems. It would be better if there were images that include humans. The site looks devoid of emotion or connection with customers.

The "etch" part of "fetch" is completely lost -- at least for me.

Bigger idea: You probably ought to have customized landing pages for different keywords or ad groups. A generic homepage won't be right for anyone. That's probably why you have a high bounce rate. If someone is looking for something that isn't on your homepage, they will hit the back button and be gone in a flash.

    Hi Paul,

My first impression of the site is that it looks decent, but looks like it is based on a website template. Having a custom designed website for a startup is not cheap, but there are a few things you can do to get rid of that generic look and feel.

    1. Try adding "trust elements" - such as an SSL cert at the top, credit card logos of the credit cards that you accept.

    2. There is a light of blank area at the top, in the header. Add your phone number or some sort of call to action "Price Match Guarantee", Free shipping offer, discount code, etc.

    3. Try to add a way to preview customizations online. Not sure if this is financially possible, but it helps customers visualize things better. A site like https://www.printapromo.com allows you to add your own logo or customization to their products.

    For the SEO:

    1. Are the product descriptions 100% unique? Google doesn't like to see content that is duplicated anywhere online.

    2. Some of the content on category pages is a little too low. Need around 250-300 words min.

These are my first thoughts. Hope it helps.

Viewing on Mozilla firefox, it looks bland, to be honest.

You'll want a popular items option, and maybe display a few of those across the top for initial capture of interest and/or new items added and/or highlighted product of the month.

About Us - where do you source your materials, do you do the engraving in-house, what is your warranty/guarantee? Is there anything unique or special about the company and/or history of its creation? Family business?

I like pictures that are small graphics but you can click and pop open to see larger and various versions of the product.
