it is hard to give advice without more information. For example, how long has the business been in business? If they have been in business for five years or more, maybe they know something about how to run a business after all.

I don't know what your role in the business is (are you an owner or a manager or a frustrated self-proclaimed marketing expert) , but it has been my experience that many recent graduates overestimate their relevance and value of their marketing degree. And many successful organizations change slowly.

Dude, walk away. If you are the new guy and you have ideas that the boss won't fund or cannot see the benefits in you'll drive yourself nuts attempting to get them to listen. The lights may be on but trust me, no one's home. Walk away.

Organizations do change slowly, if at all. Social media works for some businesses/markets, but not all. Maybe the new employee could ask to do a test and then track results. This will tell the boss whether it is really working or not.
