Need A Brand Name For Summer Workshop

Posted by courtneydrake1 on 250 Points
my dance studio runs a summer dance intensive workshop every year. It is open to all dancers everywhere, dancers from other studios can attend. It is a very successful dance weekend with 3 levels: ages 6-8, ages 9-12 ad ages 13 and up. The weekend is intense as it is geared towards advanced dancers, and the faculty is a guest "all-star" team of teachers and in-demand choreographers. Instead of calling it "KICKS Summer Dance Intensive" I was hoping to give it a more catchy name this year, with its own logo. Thank you for your help!

Since you're already well known, I'd be wary of changing your name on a whim. Besides your desire for something "catchy", is there a compelling reason to change the name? Is the name confusing to the community or does it somehow connote the wrote message?

If you've run this program for as long as you have there is no need to change the name. Making a name "catchy" won't help. To me, the word "catchy" grates the same way you're likely to react if I were to come to you looking for lessons that were "dancer". Can you make my dance lessons "dancy"? I suspect not.

I'm with Jay and Gary. Don't change the name unless there is some compelling reason to do so. The current name communicates what you're offering just fine. Adding some "catchy" to it could be more confusing than helpful.

thanks everyone!! great points! The reason why I was looking for something a bit different is because there are a lot of studios that offer "summer dance intensives" and they're all called the same thing. So I was thinking of giving it a name to make it stand out from the rest. Something like "KICKS Dance Studio presents" then the name of the workshop, example "Summer Heat", or "Pure Energy" Summer Dance Intensive.

If you want to differentiate your offering, then consider: KICKS Dance Studio's All-Star Summer Intensive (where All-Star would build on your "guest all-star team of teachers and in-demand choreographers").
