In a joint venture to open a new pharmacy that will primarily serve a pediatric clinic next door. would like a name that is short, kid friendly yet would be inviting to any age. Has to have the word pharmacy in the title.

I would assume you want the same name as the clinic since that's the target, right?

    Old McDonald's Pharmacy

I'm not a big fan of catchy names as some kind of General Principle of good Marketing . . . the way, say, verbs are. Sometimes you use them. Sometimes not. So I don't have any suggestions and honestly don't think you need one. Acme Family Pharmacy ought to work for you.

But if you don't mind, I want to share some other observations about what you wrote.

First of all, as you know, you have an almost built-in customer base. If I were looking at your Marketing budget, I'd expect to see pretty significant resources poured into customer retention.

You talk about wanting the name to be kid friendly. I don't think I see why. It's the parents with the money to spend. If you're convenient and your prices level with other pharmacies and you treat people nicely and the wait is reasonable, they'd have no reason to fill a prescription anywhere else. Liver and Onions Rx next door is still better than Phantastic Pharmacy with the clowns and cookies a mile away. They certainly wouldn't go there just because The Little Pumpkin thinks it's more fun.

And speaking of The Little Pumpkin. Rather than make it friendly, you might want to do just the opposite. Set up the store so that parents don't mind their kids being there. You know, books about the Importance of Vegetables down low and the candy up high.

Since you have some kind of built in relationship with the clinic next door, maybe you can work out arrangements with it or with individual MDs, so they call their prescriptions in. Might have to offer an incentive.

So I guess there are some names hidden in this.

    SOMETHING Family Pharmacy
    Phantastic Pharmacy
    Liver and Onions Rx
    Vegan Pharmacy
    Next Door Pharmacy

    What can I say?

    Best to you

    Just a few general comments.
I like the Small Fry idea however there is already a pharmacy named Fry's pharmacy (happens to be the last name of the owner ironically).
Regarding comments posted by Markitek - agree on all counts concerning the fact that we'll be situated right next to a pediatric clinic. Not terribly concerned about the volume of business we'll be getting (proximity plus I'm married to the clinic owner which doesn't hurt), but would like to appeal to the family as a whole, particularly since there are two other pharmacies in the same quarter mile area - perhaps parents would transfer their own meds and their parents' meds from the others. Also, we'd like the name to stand out a bit. We're in an area of the country where the independent pharmacy still thrives, so there are many. Also, we try to do a lot for our families (thanksgiving turkeys, halloween carnival, gifts at Christmas, etc) and the name may make a difference when soliciting sponsorship and donations from CEO's, etc. Names of the nearby pharmacies include OK pharmacy, Medico pharmacy and Expressway pharmacy. I particularly like the suggestion of Next Door Pharmacy.
