A brand is ultimately an ASSET of a company, and as esoteric as its value may seem, the value is real. Think of it like you do real estate -- is your home worth the price of the wood and nails and bricks alone? That's not what the tax assessor thinks.

The value of your home is a component of YOUR net worth. The value of a brand is a component of a COMPANY's net worth.

Simple to say it, but not easy to calculate!

The brand is your identification and some times your differentiation. The customers need to identify you and differentiate you from your competence, in order to prefer you and give their money. It is no so simple than just put a name and advertise it. The same like a person, you gain and increase your brand by the time, service you daily offer, quality, identity between the offer and the facts, customer knowledge, advertising, emotions involved, customer experiences, competence, focus, and so on.
