How To Market One Of The Oldest Business Schools In India Whose Stocks Are Dipping?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Business School 'X', where i passed out from, is one of the oldest Business Schools in India. It used to be among the top 15 schools in the country for a long time. But since the last few years, the school has been losing its premium position to newer and more agressive privately owned business schools in the country with more funds and a business-like approach to marketing their schools.

The reasons could be many-fold. Right from the quality of the Admission Test to declining number of Campus Recruiters. Lack of substantial funds and a Marketing team are other factors.

As an alumnus, i would want to help my school regain its lost glory. How do we start and where do we start are serious concern areas.

Would appreciate feedback from respected members of Marketing Profs on this issue. I can pass it on to the school or alumni association for action.

Without funds and/or a marketing team, I would suggest a bit of self-education on the topics. I not only reccomend the articles on this site but the links below:

I like https://www.brandchannel.com . Click on "directory" to get a nice list of resourses.

    Another quantitative search tool is:

    https://searchengineformarketers.com.

It has links to almost every aspect of marketing you can imagine.

    Good Luck!

You have obviously noted the sea of change that is desending on you, and in your question you seem to know what to do about it.

You obviously need to market the Business School, just as the newer, more modern ones do. The only advice I think I can offer is to help you look at getting the resources you need.
There MUST be ex students who have moved into marketing or marketing related areas that can help, see if you can enlist their expertise.

Look at why the new schools are doing well (part of the marketing effort), what are they offering (or promising) that your school isn't.

Work through a marketing plan carefully, and the answer will be there for you.

Good luck, if you need any furtehr assistance we are all here to help.
