Mode Of Payment For Exporters

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello there!

I currently have a situation wherein I have to revise a book in International Marketing (Going Global by Esguerra and Suplico). Anyway, I need to know the latest mode of payments in terms of exporting. The book is already about to be outdated because it was published since 1998. I need your inputs and these will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Being in importing/exporting myself I can tell you exactly what is utilized:

    1. L/C ( Letters of Credit)

    2. Bank Wire Transfers

In some rare occasions regarding small shipments, credit card processing and business/cahsiers checks are accepted but rare.

Since most exports are large shipping containers worth several thousand (or million) dollars, a manufacturer or distributor will not even think about loading the boat without having an L/C in his/her hand or the money already in the bank.

    Good Luck!

    I hope this helps!
