Just curious, Chris.hogan: Did you try a search for "RSS" or "RSS information" or something like that? I suspect you did, and didn't find what you needed. Unfortunately, it's not clear what you need to know that wouldn't come out of any of the first-page results from a simple search.

We're always happy to help, but I would guess we didn't really understand what you want ... because the answer is available in many, many hundreds (or thousands) of sites -- including those provided by Gary and Jay.

An RSS feed allows somepone to "subscribe" to content on a site. I use IE7 and when I subscribe to a feed I can add it to my MS outlook. This means when new content is posted I get a message in my Outlook. This makes it easy to keep up on new content without visiting a the site daily.

As a web based company, it allows users to view my new content easily, while keeping in front of them. Thus they are reminded of my existence and are more likely to visit my site for other info.

You can also place RSS feeds from other sources on your site, allowing you to have fresh content that you may not have to populate yourself.

    I hope this helps.
