Suggestion For Phd Topics In Marketing..

Posted by aadeepti on 250 Points
Hello everyone,
I am interested in pursuing Phd in management in marketing. I am looking for the topic which would be fresh and also useful for next 15 years.

Also the topic should be inclined to marketing with social cause relation.

i thought of humanitarian logistics as the topic but i am unable to link it to marketing.

    Why not Cause Marketing?

You're asking for something only one person can give: you. How are we to know what may be "fresh" 15 years from now? How are we to know what interests you, what influences you, or what intrigues you?

What was your most recent line of study? I've known and worked with dozens of Phds, many of whom are nice people, but most of whom are clueless about anything outside their ultra focused line of research in which they learn more and more about less and less. How will you getting a Phd broaden YOUR understanding and how will it help other people?

What is it you want to DO once you have the PhD? Your topic should be one that will give you a recognizable credential for the people who will want your services 5-10 years out. And that will also make sure it's a topic that really interests and motivates you.

Thank you so much for the feedback.. At least now i know how to move on?

I am Assistant Professor - marketing in an eminent B school in Mumbai. My phd will help me to grow in academics and research area. I have published around 16 papers. each paper has its own topic based on the theme. some papers are on event industry, sales promotion, Education, retail, etc.

I am keen on a topic on upcoming ideas in advertising or events or IMC (integrated Marketing Communications), Corporate Social responsibility (CSR), FMCG sector, etc. I had appeared for Phd interviews at 2 or 3 places and gave an idea of 'brand building through event management practices - FMCG sector', but there a lot of criticism, so got confused and started thinking on a new topic.

You might enjoy and profit from getting involved in brand personality development. Segmentation is an increasing trend; Personalization is too. This area of specialization would give you the "people contact" that you value. Done right, your work could facilitate better alignments between seller and customer.
