Unique Ideas For Rural Transportation

I live in a very rural county, and we are in need of unique transportation ideas. What ways can you think of to get your family, friends and neighbors to a doctors appointment that could be 3 hours from your home?

    I'm unclear if this is a marketing question, a brainstorming question, or a homework assignment. Can you clarify the background and constraints?

    Automobile seems like the obvious answer. Distance may be too great for walking or bicycle, not far enough for an airplane.

    But the real issue is why you're asking us. We are marketers, and this doesn't sound like a marketing question.

    I am asking this to see if anyone has a unique solution. I live in an area that has volunteer programs but they are only able to be accessed by those that are below poverty level or on State health insurance. I am thinking in terms of the elderly that have made a decent wage but now find themselves unable to drive for health reasons. Or the family that makes a decent wage but their car breaks down and needs to be in the shop for a week. Walking here is not an option. I would consider this a brainstorm question, I thought this would be a good place as people are from all over, not just my corner of a rural county. Thanks Again
