Can You Help Me Name My Company?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have been in the roofing business for many years, but want to start my own company now. I want a very catchy name. Something like, :The Woofers" and have a pic of a dog working on a roof. Something along that idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Why a catchy name rather than a name that conveys excellent service or specialty knowledge?

Yes, we can help you name your company. But we need more information if we're going to do a good job for you.

First, who is the primary target audience? Where? How/when do they make a decision on a roofer? What is most important to them? What benefit are they seeking? How do they evaluate roofers?

Then, why would you want a "very catchy" name? Catchy names suggest that you don't have any unique benefit to offer, so you want to distract potential customers with cleverness. I'd recommend a relevant and trustworthy name that says something unique about you -- and not something "catchy." Roofing is a serious subject and a serious purchase decision. Wouldn't you rather be known as the best roofer in the area than the clever guy who named his company "Woofers?"

Do you want your web presence to show up on the first page of local search results on Google, Bing, MSN, and Yahoo?

Do you want to receive regular phone calls and e-mails inquiring about your services that you can then convert into paying customers?

Do you want to be taken seriously?

Then avoid a "catchy" name, ditch the idea of a dog "woofing", and look at what you can do in to build awareness and provide a service in the geographical area you serve.
