OCTA The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is the county’s primary transportation agency. OCTA creates, funds and delivers efficient transportation for Orange County. We keep Orange County moving with extensive bus and paratransit service, Metrolink commuter rail service, the 91 Express Lanes Toll Road, motorist services and freeway, street and road improvement projects. The Position -Writes, edits, and proofreads public information collateral in support of agency programs and services. -Develops highly creative writing for marketing/promotional programs that are effective in achieving marketing goals. Copywriting projects include promotional collateral, fact sheets, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, webpages, and video scripts. -Researches trends and customer comments to formulate messaging strategies and approach, and recommends changes or enhancements to copy. -Consults with other agency departments to determine project/program status, issues, services, etc. and prepares preliminary communication drafts for approval. -Obtains additional background and current development information through research and interviews. -Creates written presentations for agency board meetings, public events, and internal uses. Provides copy writing support services for internal staff related to internal and external publications. -Acts as project manager for special projects that focus on improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of communication and information dissemination for the agency. -Drafts speaking points for executive and Board members. -Edits and proofreads copy to ensure correct spelling, grammar and punctuation for marketing projects. -Maintains current facts regarding agency programs and services for use in marketing department projects and agency documents and publications.
Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in marketing/advertising or related field with approximately five to eight years of progressively responsible experience in marketing/advertising with an emphasis in copy writing. Experience in the transportation industry, government or non-profit environment is helpful.
