Job Description:
Thomasnet (www.ThomasNet.com) is a premiere b-to-b resource for the industrial marketplace, with a comprehensive suite of online programs and initiatives for buyers and sellers. We have created a new position, Public Relations Manager, to implement the Media Plan and coordinate strategic communication efforts in our competitive space. If you enjoy working in a team-based environment, with smart, highly focused individuals, this is an exceptional opportunity to be a key contributor. As the ‘right arm’ of the Director of Strategic Services, you will work on various aspects of the Media Plan and gain valuable experience in media / communication venues. This position provides ongoing interaction with key business and industrial media. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Writing and distributing press releases
• Coordinating all interviews and briefings.
• Serving as back-up spokesperson on general information
• Maintaining an up-to-date Press Room for both ThomasNet.com and the Thomas Publishing Co. LLC Corporate site.
• Monitoring all media coverage and report weekly for distribution to a large, independent sales force.
To be considered for this position you must meet these qualifications:
• Experience in a PR/Media role working with online media such as blogs, communities and social media
• Experience working with or pitching business media
• Excellent writing skills (press releases, briefing documents, etc.)
• Excellent presentation skills (Particularly with media, analysts, etc.)
• Knowledge of major wire services and national and regional outlets
• Bachelors’ degree in a related field
