Editor's note: Curious about what's new in mobile? We launch a new weekly feature this week—the Mobile Minute video—by Mutual Mobile, covering news of interest in just a minute (or two).

As mobile use continues to accelerate at a pace faster than the Internet in the '90s, more and more brands are exploring what mobile can do—both for employees and for consumers.

This week, for instance, Wal-Mart announced a wider release of the Scan & Go feature in its iOS app. This new spin on m-commerce shows yet another way mobile is being used in retail environments.

Continuing in native app news: Nielsen recently announced that time spent in mobile apps in 2012 was over four times that of time spent on the mobile Web. Another study from Compuware suggests consumers favor native apps because they expect those apps to load faster.

Finally, in another surprising twist, comes news that Android is catching up to iOS in the enterprise space.

For details on where Android's thriving—as well as more information on all of these stories—watch this week’s Mobile Minute.
