Need A Name For A Fundraiser

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Affordable Housing Solutions creates innovative housing solutions for people with limited resources in the Sioux Falls, SD area. We are having a fundraiser around a Trivia Pursuit theme (but obviously can't use that name!)

We need a catchy name to promote this. Ideas?

What's the connection between Affordable Housing Solutions and Trivia Pursuit [sic]? Or is it just a random selection of possible fund-raising events?

A trivia-based fundraiser for Affordable Housing Solutions is kind of like a library book for a fish, right? What's the connection?

A catchy name isn't going to fix the logic problem ... unless I'm completely missing the logic to begin with.

A trivia-based fundraiser allows us to educate the public about the need for affordable housing in the community while also having a fun, interactive event.

I'm not sure what your "library book for a fish" comment means. Most fundraisers don't have a lot to do with the actual cause for which they are raising funds: dinners don't raise money for chefs, hikes don't raise money for forests, races don't raise money for running shoes. They raise money for a variety of nonprofits that are doing good work. The dinner, hike or race is a way to engage the public in that work.

Maybe I'm missing something in your comment?

Judging by the popularity of the board game, I'd say a lot of people think Trivial Pursuit is fun. A fundraiser that allows people to compete on a larger scale in a similar way has proven in other places to be quite popular. It is hardly expecting a bunch of people to be spoon fed facts and figures about our NP.

I'm happy to answer questions you may have about the event, but please don't slam it if you don't understand it.

How about "Pursuit of Housing Happiness"

My approach would be to focus on the fun/enjoyment of the event and not try to connect it to the NP. Sure, you will want to disclose the sponsor's identity, but not in the name of the event.

The name should get people interested in participating, not sell the cause. If you try to connect the NP's name with the event benefit, you'll just confuse people (like the library book and the fish).
