I Need Help With A Domain Name For My Website.

Posted by asmith157 on 250 Points
I am starting and event planning business that I will call Alyssa Arlene Events. I am trying to come up with a domain name. I'm afraid alyssaarleneevents.com will be too confusing or hard for people to spell when you consider the double "a" and the double "e". What do you think? Will it get misspelled? Is there another way I just do it? Any suggestions, opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    What about EventsByAlyssa.com?

But since that isn't the name of the business, isn't that going to be confusing to people?

If you capitalize the URL as: AlyssaArleneEvents.com it'll make it less confusing. URLs (domain names) are case-insensitive.

That is a great idea, but do you think that people will remember to capitalize the letters?

Well, as you are "afraid alyssaarleneevents.com will be too confusing or hard for people to spell when you consider the double "a" and the double "e"" might the confusion here be self created?

You cannot control what people will recall or how they will type your domain name (if they type it at all).

I would do AAEvents.com or something similar. You are correct that the spelling and lengthiness can get confusing (even though you will be hyperlinked most of the time). It should be easy to spell AND remember. You can always buy 3-4 domains anyway (I would since they are only $10 at Godaddy/year) and see what you like best in your marketing material. Best of Luck
    PS
Also do not worry about the capitalization. Domains are no longer case sensitive
(ie You can print it and they can type it upper & lower case and either way it will go to you)

How about Double A Events? (It appears to be available.)

    Good Luck!

Your URL should, like your logo and all other materials and collateral, reflect your brand and your USP (Unique Selling Point).

So, are you the affordable event planner? The friendly event planner? The experienced, elite, fun, non-sectarian, UFO-friendly event planner?

Do you specialize in parties, conferences, launches, media events, manhole openings or a combination of things?

I'm assuming you have a clear idea of how you are going to differentiate yourself from your competitors (otherwise, you're walking into a world of hurt).

So, tell us about your brand and USP and we can use that as the basis for making suggestions ...

Change the name of the company to Arlene Events or Alyssa Events and use a URL appropriate to the new name.

How about AAEvents or even the name of your town? For example - AlexandriaEvents?
