Please Help With A Name For A Men's Fashion Blog

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi,

I'm in the planning process of starting a men's fashion blog with my partner. Despite being from a marketing background I have struggled immensely with coming up with a great name. It would be appreciated if some of the experts here could lend us a hand, thank you!

Background:
This men's blog aims to provide the young professional male (ages 22 to about 40) as an education platform to educate them on classic wear. More importantly the main purpose of the blog is to encourage people to try new things rather than stick to the conventions of normal work wear.

The name should be something classy, luxurious and exudes confidence. An example of a name we really liked was 'Black Lapel' - another fashion page.

We're open to any suggestions, thanks a lot!

In addition to the 50 points, I'm willing to give advice on Digital Marketing if anyone needs help - I've worked in many different industries dealing with Digital Marketing (more specifically content creation, measurement, and Facebook). So there's that...haha

What does success look like for your blog? What is your business (or personal) objective? How will you measure success?

Can you be more specific about your target audience? Where do they live/work? What brands do they buy/use now in fashion/grooming? How will they find you? Where do they shop/buy clothes today?

You might consider conducting a few interviews with folks in your target audience to see what words they use, what frustrates them, what they wish they had, etc. This will provide great input for naming the blog. Even if you only speak with 12-15 of them that will help you (and us) zero in on some naming approaches that will resonate with your target audience.

Thanks for the reply, I should have gone into more detail at the beginning. Here is our positioning statement (quite long, but it captures everything that we envision the blog to be).

Positioning Statement: To the working professional who wants to improve his wardrobe, breaking away from the norms of work wear, (FASHION BLOG NAME) is the educational platform for fashion that seeks to educate, rather than showcase, explores styles different from the norms, and empowers people to make a positive lasting impression through the expression of fashion because other blogs showcase rather than explain, classic menswear communities place an emphasis on traditional standards, and no other communities emphasize this idea.

As for the target audience, we are targeting the young male professional who has an interest in fashion but cannot find ways to innovate his wardrobe at work. Typically this male works at a young tech company, large accounting firm, or some type of large corporation in a large/mid-sized city (similar to Seattle and Vancouver). He buys clothing from JCrew, Club Monaco, Urban Outfitters. Websites he might visit include blogs that talk about tips on being a man, grooming, fashion...basically trendy stuff. Examples: The Art of Manliness, Black Lapel, FashionBeans, Humans of New York, Trend Hunter, etc. He's most likely a huge fan of customization, companies such as the Dollar Shave Club, Harry's, and Bespoke Post.

I hope I've answered most of the questions - and if something is still lacking, I'll go ahead and pull out the detailed customer persona we have on file.

    Thank you very much.
