Need Tagline 4 Black-tie Hospital Fundraising Gala

Posted by vicki on 250 Points
Our black-tie hospital fundraising gala has included themes over the years, sometimes countries (To Russia with Love) and sometimes just a general "spring fling" as it takes place the first week of May. Last year the tagline was "Paint the Town Red for ER" and was an extremely successful event. We'd like to continue that theme since we're still fundraising for ER but want the tagline to be different enough to stand on its own as a new event. Some I've thought of:

A Second Coat of Paint
A New Coat of Paint

My issue with these is that they may confuse people that our ER only needs a new coat of paint when we're fundraising for a complete redevelopment and expansion.

Last year's color scheme was black, white and red and the effect was very dramatic and aligned well with Paint the Town Red (all guests were asked to dress in black, white or red only). I'd like to use something completely different but keep the red for ER, and tie the tagline into the theme.

Any brilliant suggestions out there? Thanks in advance!

Why not repeat the successful event's theme ("Paint the Town Red for ER")? I wouldn't allude to the previous name using "A Second Coat" or "A New Coat", since people may not be familiar with the reference.

Saul - these are great suggestions - thanks!

Jay - I agree with you about the "second coat" - if someone isn't familiar with last year's event it won't make sense. I hesitate to repeat "Paint the Town Red" since I don't want guests to think, been there, done that. Really appreciate your feedback though.

I read what you typed about not repeating the theme, but if it was really successful last year, I'd be reluctant to recommend a change.

How about: ""Paint the Town Red for ER -- Even Better"
