Fees will vary widely and wildly from the US to Canada, and depending on the area served, and depending on the services offered and the results generated.

The range is enormous. It depends on a number of factors, not the least of which are the objective, timeframe and success metrics. If you want to share details, we can probably be more helpful. If not, you may want to hire one of the experts here for a quick and confidential consultation.

Ok. Let me share more details. I run a small family restaurant in Toronto. I want to do some online marketing to promote my restaurant. I found an online marketing agency who offer me a package like this.

    - Managing Facebook & Twitter accounts for me ( 5 posting a week)
    - PR service, where they will find bloggers and press to review my restaurant
    - Custom Marketing Plan
    - Monthly Report.

They are quoted me $6,000/mo and $1500 setup fee.

This seems really expensive. So I want to know usually what the average of online marketing film charge for similar service like that.

    Thank you for your help.

I agree that $1,500 up front and 46K per month is steep. What will those posts do for you? For $6K a month their results need to be bringing you $9,000 to $12,000 in solid monthly, measurable and trackable revenue.

Again, it's difficult to know what the rates in Toronto are, but the rate you've been given strikes me as high. I suggest you look elsewhere. Do you know for a fact that people are looking for your restaurant online? Your best bet for repeat revenue is really from your regular customers. There are any number of ways you can increase the value per diner per visit without it costing you an arm and a leg.

That ought to read: "I agree that $1,500 up front and $6K per month is steep."

Your LinkedIn profile tells me you're an "Online Marketing Expert helping business with online marketing including Social Media Management, SEO & Web Design". Is there something I'm not seeing here?

This does sound rather steep for a restaurant.

Looking at the big picture, one would pay only if it provides value for them. For a large firm, they likely pay much more than this to maintain their social media, PR, content, etc. But for a restaurant (particularly if it is a single location, not a chain), this would be steep and not likely something where you would see enough added business from it to cover the costs.

The big question in my mind is the "PR service, where they will find bloggers and press to review my restaurant". This could add significant value, but it depends on what is written and where it is posted, as not all articles nor all publications are equal.

Waiting to hear your response to Gary's question about intent before I write any more thoughts I had.
