Tagline Needed For Start-up Playgroup Flyer!

Posted by snugbugs76 on 250 Points
Hi, I need a catchy tagline to go on a flyer for a new playgroup starting next year. The aim of the flyer is to give information and provoke interest and enrolment inquiries. The playgroup will be targeting deaf children, their parents and siblings, and children of deaf adults. The playgroup will be play-based with a focus on language and communication. The idea is parents will be learning further ways to communicate with their children, learning alongside/with them. Help, please!

Does the playgroup have a name? Usually the name and tagline go together.

And "catchy" is usually a tip-off that the company founder doesn't believe the core benefit is very compelling, and he/she is trying to amuse/entertain instead of offering an important and unique benefit to the target audience.

That said, your mission sounds great.

How will the target audience be better off if/when they enroll in your playgroup? How will they describe the benefit? What words will they use? Maybe you can interview 6-8 people in your primary target audience (parents) and see what they want/need and how they will evaluate this option for their kids.

Ok, good advice about using the word 'catchy'! I'm a teacher not a marketer, so thinking of a phrase or tagline is all new to me! the target audience will be better off in that they and their preschoolers will learn communication strategies that will benefit the language acquisition of deaf preschoolers, and communication between deaf and hearing family members. Families will play and learn alongside specialist teachers of the deaf, sign language facilitators, and oral language-focused teachers, all for free. Does that help?

Oh, and the name will be 'Te Manawa Playgroup', which means 'the heart' and links the playgroup to their venue..

    Te Manawa Playgroup
A Community of Learning for Deaf Children

The problem is that the name of the group doesn't say anything about the group's purpose or the benefit for the target audience. That means the tagline has to do everything -- a lot to ask of a few words.

I'm guessing that anyone interested would know rudimentary sign language already...

    1. Create video that explains what you're doing - have a signer commnicate the message in the video

    2. create QR code for video

    3. put QR code on flyer

    4. Use sign symbols in your flyer - I think overdoing the word "deaf" will be a turn-off - it's overkill and starts making people think "yeah, ok, i'm/he's/she's deaf - we get it". Use signing to your advantage and don't insult their intelligence.

    5. tagline? Te Manawa: The Fun, Hands-on Experience for the Entire Family
