Need A Name For My Antique Store

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I will be carrying a lot of furniture....a lot of it more decorative and a lot of art and mid century furnishings.
I will have a huge display case of vintage jewelry .
I want something sophisticated but also trendy . Prefer something unusual and memorable.
I want more of a designer feel than a junk shop.

here's an example of a "designer feel" store in Georgia -

How would you position your store relative to this store? Your target customers and competitive differentiation etc?

Who is your target audience? What do they consider when shopping for the kind of things you're going to be selling?

I'll bet if you could record all the things the target audience says when you interview them, there would be at least a dozen great ideas for your store name.

After all, the thing you want to do with the name is get your target audience to notice and trust you, right? Talk to them, or hire a market research professional to do it for you. You'll get better ideas from them than you will from us.

I absolutely agree with mgoodman -- listening to your customers as they talk about your store will produce the best naming ideas.

That said, once you've heard your customers talk, you may want to offer them names you like so they can tell you which of those names fits your store best. One idea for a name and explaining phrase:

    ANTIQUES BY DESIGN
Home Furnishings, Artwork and Vintage Jewelry

I cannot ask my clientele for suggestions. I am not open yet.
I need to know before I open and make a website.

If you're not open yet, you can still talk to people who are likely to purchase from you. Perhaps they are friends, interior designers, people in your "network", etc.

Are you looking for something like "Ye Olde Furniture Shoppe" or "(Furnished With) Panache"?
