New Group Fitness Center Name
2/20/2013 at 5:19 PM ET
Looking for ideas on a new name for a group fitness studio. I am creating a single center that will provide Hot Yoga, Crossfit, Spinning, Aerial Yoga, Kickboxing, and a ton of other group classes. My clients will no longer have to belong to multiple gyms to get their group fitness fix. It will be all under on roof. We will also have Nutritionist, chiropractors, and massage therapists. I need a name that is easily remembered and relate to my studio. I want people to be able to say "I am going to "????"," and everyone in the area know where they are going. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you located? It's often a good idea to include some reference to the location so prospective clients will understand that you're local, a member of the community, and that you share their culture and values.

You're lucky you're in a place that can be identified in 2 letters: DC You can attach DC to the beginning of any name and make it unique. That means you can get any name you like probably. Many of the names below are already someone's domain name; i.e., UniversalGym.com and OmniGym.com. But, with the DC in front, you'd have no problem.
How about these, with DC where necessary or desired, and followed by Gym or Fitness Studio:
Omni (for Omnipresent)

KSA is brilliant.
GymQube.com is not available, however, GymCubeDC.com and GymQubeDC.com are available. I think OmniGymDC.com and its variations are also interesting possibilities.

What do you think?

All, good names, but I'm looking for something like the Sweat Factory, where people can talk about going to the factory and people will know they are going to the gym. I understand that my brand awareness is going to have a lot to do with it, but I need the name to build it around. The atmosphere of the facility is going to be an urban sheik with bare brick walls and exposed beams.

I like a name that can be shortened -- like the Modern Art Museum in NY is known as MONA.
Then everyone can say "Meet Me at the station" and everyone will know what they are talking about

I think it would be helpful if the name also triggered thoughts about the type of gym. So, I was going after words that touched on the all inclusive nature of the offerings.
Wouldn't people come up with their own nicknames for anything? Helped along by you in terms of how you refer to the gym? I wonder if you're limiting yourself by thinking the name has to have something like factory in it. Although, the Fitness Station is one that follows that template nicely.
Omni Fitness Studio would become "Meet me at the Omni"
Infinite Fitness Studio would become "Meet me at Infinite"
Gym Cube would become "Meet me at the cube"
The acronym is an interesting idea. How about:
Omni Fitness Studio or OFS - pronounced office - "Going to workout at the office" :-)

I agree with you on everything. I do not have to have Factory in the name, that is just one name that I was thinking about. I am open to just about anything.
