Health And Wellness Event At A Mall

Posted by barbara on 100 Points
I will be coordinating a health and wellness event at a mall. I'd like to come up with a catchy name to reflect these two facts (health and wellness plus its location). Any ideas are appreciated.

What specifically will the visitor experience at your event? What's the name of the mall? Who are you hoping to attend? When?
  • Posted by barbara on Author
There will be a variety of vendors promoting (examples): medical and dental offices, health and wellness products, weight loss, spa services, skin creams, vitamins, health insurance, and speech therapy. There may be health screenings such as blood pressure and cardiac screenings as well. The mall is called Smith Haven Mall. We are looking to draw all ages but most will be geared towards adults.

Please, for the love of God, avoid anything "catchy". We're I to come to you asking for something that was "healthy" but without giving any idea what I meant by the term I'm sure I'd get a few odd looks. Likewise if I asked for something that was more wellness based. I urge you to opt for relevance to your target audience rather than going for "catchy".

I like catchy, Gary. Another event I ran at a mall in April was called Spring into the Mall. I thought that was great. Virag, I don't understand how the word "Return" fits in. Please keep 'em coming!

    Hi

Return in terms of "Value for Money". When customers are coming & inquiring, they must be getting return (Satisfaction) ..

So, that tagline is very catchy, unique & attractive which will cover your target audience as well as place name.

    Regards,
    Virag

Sorry, Virag, I've never heard Return used that way. Thanks for explaining it, though.

    Hi

    (1) Wellness at Smith Haven, Be Healthy In-Return

    Hi

I think, this last one .....Be healthy In-Return ..seems much better ..what you say
  • Posted by barbara on Author
Virag, please stop using the word Return. I've never heard it used that way and won't be using it in the title. Others are welcome to offer their best suggestions, too. Thank you.

I like mint chic chip ice cream but I would'nt use it as a tag line. What you like does not matter. What you like is, in the eyes of your ideal clients, irrelevant. Catchy is not a selling strategy.

Barbara, There are so many brand name, its tagline or punch line are available in market which was never been heard by people prior ..but now a days people have heard & identified ...why? because that product transformed into brand & company has created awareness & established as brand.

So, here the purpose is for establishment in market in order to differentiate with your competitors. Otherwise all are doing same then how your target audience will identify you..

    Thank you

Always think on customer point of view rather than personal.. what customer will like, how they shall identify you? how they shall remember you? what they are looking for ? Brand can build up only when customer can identify & remember easily ..otherwise it will remain only ordinary product instead of brand ..

    Thanks

Gary, the mall asked me to see if I had any ideas for a name for an event I am running with them. They like catchy, and they liked Spring into the Mall. Virag, I don't completely follow what you wrote, but I don't want to use the word Return. Previously used names have been Spring into the Mall, Paint the Mall Red, and HISday Expo. I am looking for short, sweet, and, if possible, clever. Thank you.

We're at odds: it's been my belief since my first contributions to this forum five years and over 3,000 questions ago that in marketing and sales, catchy is the first step on the road to mediocrity.

In marketing, mediocrity is death. It is sameness and invisibility. Business owners do "catchy" because they've been lulled into thinking it has appeal, and because all their competitors are doing it, so it must be working. Sadly, this flawed logic is one of the reasons why many small businesses go out of business with rather more rapidity than they'd anticipated.

Although the mall staff may like catchy, again, they are not your customer. The mall staff want catchy because it's easy, because they think—wrongly—that tired clichés and trite phrases will have people running to get their car keys and credit cards.

You've mentioned that your audience is adults. That's a tad vague. Could you be more specific? I'm asking this because the more aligned the name of the event is with the self interests of those people most likely to take notice, the more you stand to boost response rates and attendance.

I guess it depends on your objective.

If it's to get people to the event, then those people are your target audience, and you need an EFFECTIVE name, not necessarily a "catchy" name.

If the objective is to keep your client happy (and convinced you are the right person to be helping them), then the CLIENT is the target audience. And if the client thinks "catchy" is good, then you need to give them "catchy." (Or educate them about marketing and naming.)

Gary, I notice that you haven't offered one suggestion yet. I would love to hear what you would use for the name of the event. Jay, thanks for your ideas. I still haven't gotten exactly what I'm looking for but appreciate it nonetheless. Mgoodman, what would you go with if you were looking for effective? How about "catchy?" Thanks, everyone.

    I like Gary's list.

I will share a few of these with the mall and see if they are satisfied. If anyone has any more, I'm still happy to hear them. Thank you.

One last time: the people in charge at the mall need to understand that they are not the customer.

So, Saul, you win. The mall is going to go with Healthy Living at Smith Haven Mall. Thanks, everybody.
